Dual Seven Segment Display

For many years, dual seven-segment displays have been used in hardware hacking. These products at least force you to stretch a little bit, even if the majority fit between your thumb and index finger with ease. Together, the two digits are 96.5 mm wide by 69.8 mm high, or 82.1 mm tall when the PCB is included. This is much larger than the small 7-segment displays you may have used in prior projects, measuring about 3.8 by 2.7/3.2 inches if you're more familiar with the dimensions.

The device is controlled by three data pins, meaning you don't have to control each segment individually, and there's also an optional PWM dimming signal. Power is provided by a DC jack, and it uses a constant current driver to supply the LEDs. This allows the unit to work without multiplexing, meaning no flickering if recorded with a camera, and a longer LED life. If you need more than 2 digits, multiple modules can snap together, but the connector does require some support. Conveniently, mounting holes are already provided, so this should be fairly easy to integrate into your project.

This is not your basic 7-segment display. The Dual Seven Segment Display features two digits with an RGB LED for each segment! Now you will have a small 7-segment LED with a full color display in your project!

The Dual 7-segment Display is breadboard friendly and the digits are 0.56 inches (14.22mm) high. The forward voltage of the red LED is 2VDC, green is 2.85VDC, and blue is 2.95VDC, and the continuous forward current per segment of the red LED is 10mA, and green and blue are 5mA.
