The seven-segment LED display is a basic electronic display device, commonly used to display numbers from 0 to 9. There are two types of seven-segment displays: common anode and common cathode. It can also display hexadecimal values, including 0–9 and A, B, C, D, E, F.
This is a 0.5-inch, 1-digit common anode and common cathode seven-segment display. The display has a light gray surface with white segments. Single, dual, triple, and quad-digit displays are available, with character heights ranging from 0.28 inches to 12 inches. The 0.5-inch seven-segment display is available in various colors, including red, green, pure green, blue, white, amber, and monochrome (red and pure green), and is made from high-quality materials.
The seven-segment display, also known as the "Seven Segment Display," consists of seven LEDs (hence the name) arranged in a rectangular pattern, as shown in the figure. Each of the seven LEDs is referred to as a "segment" because when lit, it forms a part of the number to be displayed (both decimal and hexadecimal). The number is displayed through a code or an encoder-decoder IC, which sends commands to light up the LEDs in the appropriate combination to display the number.

Common Anode 7 Segment Display
All the Negative terminals (Anode) of all the 8 LEDs are connected together. All the positive terminals are left alone.
Common Cathode 7 Segment Display
All the positive terminals (Cathode) of all the 8 LEDs are connected together. All the negative thermals are left alone.
