A seven-segment digital display with multiple light-emitting diodes packaged together can be divided into a common anode display and a common cathode display according to its connection form. Figure 7-1 shows a seven-segment display with common yang and common yin. In addition to the seven-segment strokes necessary to display numbers, the display also provides a decimal point. The anodes of the common anode display are connected together. At this time, a positive voltage is provided to the anode, and the cathode is controlled to be high or low through a current limiting resistor to determine whether it is dark or bright. The cathodes of the common cathode display are connected together. At this time, the cathode can be grounded, and the anode is controlled to be high or low through a current limiting resistor to determine whether it is bright or dark.

The font displayed using a seven-segment digital display is limited by the structure of the display itself. Therefore, when displaying more complex characters, Chinese characters or graphics, dot matrix display can be used.
